On August 28, 2014, His Holiness Patriarch Mor Ignatius Aphrem II visited the Grand Mufti of the Syrian Arab Republic Sheikh Ahmad Badreddine Hassoun. His Holiness was accompanied by their Eminences the Archbishops Mor Dionysius Jean Kawak, Patriarchal Office Director, and Mor Timotheos Matta Al-Khoury, Patriarchal Secretary.

His Holiness and Sheikh Hassoum discussed the current situation in Syria and the Middle East. His Holiness Participates in the Meeting of the Patriarchs and Head of Churches

On August 27, 2014, His Holiness Patriarch Mor Ignatius Aphrem II participated in the meeting of the patriarchs and head of churches in the East in the Maronite patriarchal headquarters in Bkerkeh. The meeting was held following the visit of a delegation of patriarchs to the region of Kurdistan to investigate the conditions of the displaced Christians from Mosul and the Nineveh Plains. The purpose of the meeting is to discuss the events that affect Christians in the Middle East.

On August 25, 2014, His Holiness Patriarch Mor Ignatius Aphrem II visited His Excellency Mr. Karim Senjari, Minister of Interior in the Region of Kurdistan. His Holiness was accompanied by their Eminences Mor Nicodemus Daoud Sharaf, Archbishop of Mosul and Environs, and Mor Dionysius Jean Kawak, Patriarchal Office Director.

On August 25, 2014, Reporter Shemoun Matti interviewed His Holiness Syrian Orthodox Patriarch Mor Ignatius Aphrem II and His Beatitude Syrian Catholic Patriarch Mor Ignatius Youssef III Younan on Ishtar TV.

The interview was mainly about the apostolic visit of His Holiness and His Beatitude to the Christian families that are currently in the region of Kurdistan. They spoke about the situation of the families that were forced to leave their houses in Mosul and the Nineveh Plains. His Holiness Celebrates the Divine Liturgy in the Mother of Light Church in Ankawa

On August 24, 2014, His Holiness Patriarch Mor Ignatius Aphrem II celebrated the Holy Qurobo (Divine Liturgy) in the Mother of Light Church in Ankawa. His Holiness was assisted by their Eminences Mor Timotheos Moussa Al-Shamani, Archbishop of the Diocese of St. Matthew Monastery and Mor Dionysius Jean Kawak, Patriarchal Office Director. The Holy Qurobo was attended by Mor Nicodemus Daoud Sharaf, Archbishop of Mosul and Environs along with many priests, monks and deacons.

On August 23, 2014, His Holiness Patriarch Mor Ignatius Aphrem II visited St. Sergius and Bacchus Church in Akra along with the villages of Ashawa, Sarsank, Araden and Duhok in the region of Kurdistan. His Holiness was accompanied by their Eminences Mor Nicodemus Daoud Sharaf, Archbishop of Mosul and Mor Dionysius Jean Kawak, Patriarchal Office Director.
