2009 Archbishop’s Appeal

We have witnessed and facilitated the emergence of several small parishes throughout the Archdiocese. Clusters of spiritual families, determined to worship in the tradition of our Holy Church, have come together to praise the Lord.

Did you know 7 parishes, of less than 35 families each, in different parts of the country, fostered by the Archdiocese, meet regularly worshiping and enjoying our Tradition to its fullest. Deacons chanting, Choirs singing and Sunday School children learning.

His Eminence meets Senator Frank Lautenberg

On the evening of Thursday 13 August 2009, His Eminence Archbishop Mor Cyril Aphrem Karim met the Honorable Frank Lautenberg, the Senator of the State of New Jersey. His Eminence was accompanied by several parishioners from New Jersey. He was also joined by several Arab and Middle Eastern community leaders from the State. On Thursday, August 13, 2009, Mor Cyril Aphrem Karim, accompanied by Very Rev. John Meno, Ecumenical Officer of the Archdiocese, visited His Beatitude Metropolitan Jonah, Archbishop of Washington and New York and Metropolitan of All America and Canada of the Orthodox Church in America, at the headquarters of the OCA in Syosset, New York. His Holiness Consecrates a New Metropolitan

In the morning of Sunday 23 August 2009, His Holiness Moran Mor Ignatius Zakka I, Patriarch of Antioch and all the East, presided over the celebration of the Holy Qurbono (Liturgy) at St. Aphrem Monastery in Ma’arat Saydnaya, Damascus. During the celebration His Holiness laid His hand on Very Rev. Khorepiscopos Jacob consecrating him a Metropolitan, assistant to His Eminence Mor Polycarpos, the Metropolitan of the Patriarchal Churches in India. The New Metropolitan was given the new Episcopal name “Mor Antonios”. His Holiness The Patriarch Receives The Syrian Catholic Patriarch

On Thursday 20 August 2009, His Holiness Moran Mor Ignatius Zakka I, Patriarch of Antioch and all the East, received the new Patriarch of the Syrian Catholic Church, His Beatitude Mor Ignatius Joseph III at St. Aphrem Monastery in Ma’arat Saydnaya, Damascus. Several Archbishops, Bishops and clergy of our Church were present. After arriving at the Monastery for his first visit to our Patriarchate follwing his installation as patriarch, His Beatitude was lead to Sts.
