On Tuesday, October 27, 2009, a special luncheon was hosted at the Greek Orthodox Archdiocese of America in New York City to honor His All Holiness Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew of Constantinople. The event brought together a large number of religious leaders from the Christian, Jewish and Muslim Faiths. The First Sunday of the Liturgical Year

May the Grace and peace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you all.

The island of Haiti has been wrecked by a strong Earthquake. Almost everything is destroyed, and there is no way they can stand up again without the help of others. The catastrophe is devastating to all of the residents of the Island. Help and aid flew from all across the country. We, as Christians, were ordered by the Lord to take care of the needy, feed the hungry and clothe the naked. Many of the churches in America responded to this call.

His Eminence Attends the Annual Oriental Orthodox–Roman Catholic Consultation

The annual consultation between the Oriental Orthodox Churches and the Roman Catholic Church in the USA was held at the Cardinal Spellman Retreat Center in the Bronx, New York on Wednesday, September 30 and Thursday October 1. Participants came from the Oriental Orthodox Churches (Armenian, Coptic, Ethiopian and Syriac Orthodox) and the Roman Catholic Church. Our Church was represented by His Eminence Mor Cyril Aphrem Karim, Very Rev.Fr. John Meno and Rev. Fr. Joseph Chamoun. Ordination of Qorouye (Readers) and Aphodiaqnoo (Sub-Deacons) in Atlanta, GA

Sunday the 4th of October was a historic day for our Syriac Community in Atlanta, GA. At 10:30 am His Eminence Archbishop Mor Cyril Aphrem Karim presided over the Holy Qurbono (Divine Liturgy) at our St. John Church in Atlanta. He was assisted by Rev. Fr. Eli Shabo and the choir. The Church on that Sunday was filled with the parishioners and some of their friends. During the Holy Qurbono, after the sermon, His Eminence elevated a group of altar servants to the ranks of Qorooye and Aphodiaqnoo.

Oriental Orthodox Fall Meeting

On Tuesday, October 19, 2009, the Standing Conference of the Oriental Orthodox Churches in America held its annual Fall meeting at St. Leon Armenian Church in Fair Lawn, New Jersey. His Eminence Mor Cyril Aphrem Karim started the meeting with a prayer. His Eminence Khajag Barsamian presided over the meeting. Meeting started with a prayer Among the subjects discussed were our Oriental Orthodox youth, the Joint Commission of Eastern/Oriental Orthodox Churches, Christian Churches Together, Roman Catholic/Oriental Orthodox Dialogues (both US and international), the annual Concelebrated Liturgy and the yearly Oriental Orthodox clergy gathering. The Annual United Nations Prayers 2009

On Monday evening, October 26, 2009, the ninth annual Eastern and Oriental Orthodox UN Prayer Service was celebrated at Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Cathedral in New York City presided over by His All Holiness Patriarch Bartholomew, Archbishop of Constantinople, New Rome and Ecumenical Patriarch. This yearly event is cosponsored by the Standing Conference of the Canonical Orthodox Bishops in the Americas and the Standing Conference of Oriental Orthodox Churches in America.
