Ordination of Deacons in Southfield, Michigan
During the week-end of November 7-9, 2009 His Eminence Archbishop Mor Cyril Aphrem Karim made a visit to Sts. Peter and Paul Parish in Southfield, MI. On the evening of Saturday the 7th, he met with the parishioners who were gathered in the Church social hall for a family night.
On Sunday, November 8, 2009, His Eminence celebrated the Holy Qurbono (Divine Liturgy) at Sts. Peter and Paul Church. He was assisted by Rev. Fr. Edward Hanna, the Pastor of Sts. Peter and Paul and Rev. Fr. Steven, the Pastor of St. Mary’s Malankara Syrian Orthodox Parish in Michigan. The Holy Qurbono was served by a large number of deacons under the leadership of Rev. Deacon Matti Saliba. During the Holy Qurbono His Eminence admitted to the service of the holy altar the following individuals, after designating them as (Mzamrono) Psalters: Alexander AbdulNour, Marak Alyass, Brandon Askar Matthew Askar, Jamil Danho, Anthony Hanna and Muneer Hasso.
He also ordained the following to the rank of Qorooyo (Reader): Andrew ABdulNour, David Alyass, Firas Askar Jalal Kozy and Matthew Yousif.
The following Qorooye (Readers) were elevated to the rank of Ephodiakno (Sub-Deacon): Fadi Alyass, Issa Hazou, Steven Istephan, Michael Shammas and Chris Touma.
We congratulate the new deacons asking the Lord to bless their ministry, praying that it may be for God’s glory.
