Clergy Retreat 2010

To our spiritual children, members of our Archdiocese:

May the peace and grace of our Lord be with you all.

We wish to take this opportunity to thank God for His blessings upon the recent gathering of our clergy for our annual Archdiocesan Retreat. Our pastors from across the Archdiocese gathered at St. Mary’s Villa in Sloatsburg, New York, from March 8th through the 11th, to pray and study together the word of God, as brothers in the priesthood of Christ. The theme of our 2010 retreat was the encouragement of Priestly Vocations among our local youth in the United States….

Dearly beloved in Christ,

The Resurrection of our Lord and Savior from among the dead is a foretaste of our own resurrection from our fall and shortcomings. His triumph over death is our triumph over our weaknesses. Let us rejoice in His Divine victory and celebrate it with befitting deeds of righteousness.

Fr. Jean Kawak is consecrated Metropolitan

On Sunday March 21, 2010 His Holiness Moran Mor Ignatius Zakka, I Patriarch of Antioch and all the East presided over the Holy Qurbono at Sts. Peter and Paul Cathedral in Ma’araat Saydnaya, Damascus- Syria.

During the Divine Liturgy His Holiness consecrated the Very Rev. Fr. John Aziz Kawak Metropolitan in charge of the Patriarchal offices in Damascus. Participating in the service were 13 metropolitans of the Church from different parts of the world. The new Metropolitan was given the Episcopal Name Dyonissios John.
