Delegation from the Church World Service visits the Archdiocese
On July the 21st , 2010, a delegation from the Church World Service paid a visit to His Eminence at the Archdiocese center in Teaneck, New Jersey. Present were V. Rev. Father John Meno, the Ecumenical officer of the Archdiocese, Rev. Fr. Joseph Chamoun, Mr. Said Samuel, The Archdiocese treasurer and Mr. Beniamin Malki, the Chairman of the Suryoyo Relief Fund. The delegation consisted of Mr. John Paterakis, the first Vice- Chairman of the Board of Church World Service, Rev. Dr. Cheryl Dudley, Senior Adviser to the Executive Director and Dr. Marie Varley, Regional Director for North New Jersey/ Metropolitan New York City.
The delegation highlighted the organization’s programs and activities, and discussed with His Eminence ways to enhance the involvement of the Archdiocese in the life and witness of the Church World Service.
During the visit, His Eminence handed the delegation a check in the amount of $15,000, which was collected from the parishes as a contribution from the Archdiocese to the efforts of the Church World Service towards the relief and rebuilding of Haiti following the devastating earthquake which struck the country in the beginning of this year.
