Ordination of a Gospler Deacon (Ewangeloyo) at St. Barsawmo in Wykoff, New Jersey
On Sunday, October the 3rd, His Eminence, Mor Cyril Aphrem Karim presided over the celebration of Holy Qurobo (Divine Liturgy) at St. Barsawmo Church, in Wyckoff, New Jersey. During the Holy Liturgy, His Eminence ordained Aphodiakno (Sub-Deacon) Bitris Aydin to the rank of Gospler Deacon (Ewangeloyo). Very Rev. Fr. Shamoun Asmar, the Pastor of St. Barsawmo and Rev. Fr. Eli Shano assisted in the celebration. At the end of the elaborate ordination ceremony, the Rev. Deacon Bitris expressed his gratitude to the Almighty God for calling him to this blessed ministry. He likewise, thanked His Eminence for his trust and promised to serve the Church to the best of his ability in accordance with the duties and responsibilities of his rank.
Ordination of Qorouye (Readers) and Aphodiakno (Sub-Deacon)
During the same celebration, Qoruyo (Reader) Fikri Aydin was elevated to the rank of Aphodiakno (Sub-Deacon), and the following four young altar servants were elevated to the rank of Qoruyo (Reader):
Nyman Aydin, Alex Samuel, Daniel Coban, Peter Aydin
After listening to the messages of gratitude delivered by tow of the newly ordained Qoruye (Readers), His Eminence congratulated the newly ordained and reminded them of their duties toward their church and community. He then emphasized the importance for every single member of the church to be active in the life of the parish and the Archdiocese. He then praised St. Barsawmo Church for being very active, both as a parish and as individuals working on behalf of the Church and the Archdiocese.
After the celebration, the congregation was invited for lunch, offered by the Rev. Deacon Bitris Aydin.
