Ordination of Deacons in Brooklyn, New York
On Sunday, November 14, 2010 His Eminence Archbishop Mor Cyril Aphrem Karim celebrated Holy Qurbono (Divine Liturgy) at with the parishioners of St. George parish in Brooklyn, New York. His Eminence was assisted by the Very Rev. Fr. Sulayman Al Shaltan who was visiting from Baghdad-Iraq, Rev. Fr. Gabriel Adde, the priest of St. George’s Parish and Rev. Fr. Joseph Chamoun, the priest of St. Mark’s Cathedral. The Liturgy was served by both the choir and the deacons of St. George’s Parish. During the celebration His Eminence ordained to the rank of Qoruyo (Reader) Emmanuel and elevated to the rank of Aphodiakno (Sub-Deacon) the following Readers: George James Nehmeh, Jacq Daoud Jr.,John Abdulahad and Steve Malko.
At the end of the celebration His Eminence delivered a spiritual sermon on the Feast of the Annunciation of Zachariah. He also instructed the newly ordained to take their ministry very seriously and conduct themselves in a way that fits their calling and brings glory to God’s Name.
Following the Divine Liturgy all parishioners and visitors participated in a dinner prepared be the Ladies Organization of the parish.
