Ordination of Deacons at St. Mark’s Cathedral in Teaneck, New Jersey

On Sunday, December 5, 2010 His Eminence Archbishop Mor Cyril Aphrem Karim celebrated Holy Qurbono (Divine Liturgy) at St. Mark’s Cathedral in Teaneck, New Jersey. His Eminence was assisted by Very Rev. Fr. John Meno and Rev. Fr. Joseph Chamoun, who has been training the new Deacons how to serve the altar of God for the past six months. The Liturgy was served by both the choir and the deacons of St. Mark’s Parish. The New 2011 Archdiocesan Wall Calendar "Congratulates our Beloved Patriarch, His Holiness Moran Mor Ignatius Zakka I Iwas on the occasion and observance of his 30th Anniversary 1980-2010 as the Supreme Head of the Universal Syriac Orthodox Church of Antioch. It consists of 28 pages, printed in high gloss and lists all celebrated holidays, fasts and scripture readings. In addition to that there is an Eastern Diocese directory and a 2012 calendar year outline.

Ordination of a Gospler Deacon (Ewangeloyo) in Jacksonville, Florida

On Sunday, December 12, 2010, His Eminence Mor Cyril Aphrem Karim celebrated the Holy Qurobo (Divine Liturgy) at the Church of the Mother of God of the Zunoro in Jacksonville, FL. During the Holy Qurobo His Eminence ordained Aphodiakno (Sub-Deacon) Samaan Slayman to the rank of Gospler Deacon (Ewangeloyo). Very Rev. Raban Maurice Amsih, the Pastor of the Church, assisted in the service. The Rev. Deacon Samaan has been serving the Church with distinguished dedication and faithfulness since the opening of the Church in 1996.

His Eminence visits St. Aphraim’s Church in Washington, D.C.

During the weekend of 18-19 December, 2010, His Eminence Mor Cyril Aphrem Karim visited the parish of St. Aphraim in Alexandria, VA which serves members of the church in the Washington D.C. greater area. On Saturday the 18th His Eminence visited parishioners in Baltimore, MA.

On Sunday, the 19th He celebrated the Holy Qurobo (Divine Liturgy) which was attended by a crowd of over two hundred parishioners. A Christmas Surprise: Honoring Fr. John Meno

In a packed Cathedral, upon concluding his Christmas Sermon, His Eminence turned his attention and spoke about Fr. John Meno’s tenure as Pastor of St. Mark’s. He re-iterated his personal admiration and respect for a truly exemplary clergyman who over the years unselfishly served the St. Mark’s parish as well as the Archdiocese as its General Secretary.
