A Christmas Surprise: Honoring Fr. John Meno
In a packed Cathedral, upon concluding his Christmas Sermon, His Eminence turned his attention and spoke about Fr. John Meno’s tenure as Pastor of St. Mark’s. He re-iterated his personal admiration and respect for a truly exemplary clergyman who over the years unselfishly served the St. Mark’s parish as well as the Archdiocese as its General Secretary. His Eminence said that Fr. John’s retirement brings to surface much heartfelt emotion and memoires of good times as years unfolded in the service of our Holy Church. His Eminence addressed Fr. John saying, “ you have touched the hearts of so many at St. Mark’s and as you leave us we wish you only the best and ask the Almighty to bless you, your wife Rola and your son Peter in the days to come.”
At this point, our Archbishop called upon Dr. Yamo Deniz, President of the Archdiocesan Executive Council, to present a monetary gift from the Archdiocese marking the Cathedral Pastor’s retirement. Dr. Yamo Deniz, on behalf of the Archdiocesan Executive Council, commended Fr. John and thanked him for his many years of dedicated service to both St. Mark’s and the Archdiocese.
In conclusion, His Eminence noted and complimented the excellent cooperation witnessed over the past fourteen months between Fr. John Meno and Fr. Joseph Chamoun, during a very smooth and seamless transitional period.
