A Social Hour with the Archdicesan Executive Council

His Eminence Mor Cyril Aphrem Karim, on the joyful occasion of Christmas, hosted a Meet and Greet Social Hour for members of the Boards of Trustees and individuals who have been working diligently in their respective parishes and the Archdiocese as a whole. The event was held December 28th at the main hall of the Midland Avenue Archdiocesan Complex.

The primary purpose of the gathering was for His Eminence to thank everyone for the outstanding work they have done, and continue to do in the service of our Holy Church, and at the same time, introduce the newly organized Archdiocesan Executive Council…

Archdiocesan Council Meeting

The Archdiocesan Executive Council held its first monthly meeting of the year on Wednesday, January 5th at the Archdiocese Complex in Teaneck, New Jersey. Agenda topics included preparation for the February 5th Face to Face meeting with Boards of Trustees Presidents, Board members and clergy in order to review Council accomplishments and outline future plans, including status reports from the four standing committees. Much attention was given to recent steps taken by the past presidents of SOAYO to re-vitalize the youth movement in the diocese. His Eminence Visits the Chicago Area

At the invitation of St. Afrem Church in Chicago, His Eminence Mor Cyril Aphrem Karim visited the area from January the 15th till the 17th. The visit started with a meeting with the priest of St. Afrem, Rev. Fr. Sharbel Bcheiry and the Board of the Church. His Eminence was given a report about the activities of the parish and its future plans. In return, he congratulated them on their achievements during the short history of the parish, which was established 18 months ago. He also gave them his fatherly advice and offered to help them in any way possible.

Ordination of Deacons at St. Afrem’s Parish

In the afternoon of Sunday the 16th His Eminence celebrated the Holy Qurbono with St. Aphrem’s parishioners. He was assisted by Rev. Fr. Sharbel Bcehiry, St. Aphrem’s parish priest, Rev. Fr. Yacoub Youhanoun of St. John the Baptist and Rev. Fr. Mathew Karuthalackal of St. Mary’s Malankara Syrian Orthodox Church in Des Plains, IL.

During the Holy Qurbono, His Eminence ordained the following altar servants, to the rank of Qoruyo (Reader): Dani Edo, Romo Maloul, Dani Maloul, Fahmi Georges, Sharbel Georges and Akad Saadi.

He also elevated Mr. Robby Edo to the rank of Aphodyakno (Sub-Deacon).

His Beatitude Ieronymos-II, the Archbishop of Athens and All Greece visits the Holy Father

MA`ARAT SAYYIDNAYA, SYRIA: On the evening of Tuesday 25 January 2011, His Beatitude Ieronymos-II, the Archbishop of Athens and All Greece and the accompanying delegation were given a warm welcome at the St. Ephrem Syriac Orthodox Monastery in Ma’arat Saydinnya, Damascus. His Holiness Ignatius Zakka-I Iwas the Patriarch of Antioch & All the East and the supreme head of the Universal Syriac Church, along with the Metropolitans and clergy of the holy Church received the delegation at the Monastery hall. January 30th, 2011, the Sunday of the Blessing of the Candles, marked the fifteenth anniversary of the ordination of His Eminence Mor Cyril Aphrem Karim as Archbishop.
