His Eminence Ordains New Deacons In Rhode Island
On Sunday March the 12th, at three o’clock in the afternoon, His Eminence Mor Cyril Aphrem Karim celebrated the Holy Qurobo (Divine Liturgy) at St. Ephraim’s Church in Central Falls, Rhode Island. During the celebration, he ordained the following six altar servants to the rank of Qoruyo (Reader): Peter Askar, Alexander Khabbaz, Jordan Khabbaz, Barsom Nuay, Cyros Nuay and Hanna Touma.
He also elevated to the rank of Aphodyaqno (Sub- Deacons). The following three Qoruye: Christopher Fazah, Christopher Hadodo and Kayto Hadodo. His Eminence was assisted by the parish priest, Rev. Fr. Mattias Alan Al-Shaltan, and Very. Rev. Raban Maroutha Hanna and Very Rev. Raban Saliba Alkassis
Following the ordination, His Eminence delivered a sermon in which he conveyed his congratulations and best wishes for St. Ephraim’s parish and the deacons on this holy occasion. He especially addressed the newly-ordained deacons, highlighting their duties as servants on the altar of the Lord, and asking them to take their responsibilities seriously and perform their commitments faithfully. His Eminence also recognized the faithful service of the head of the deacons, Malfono Augin Monofar, to St. Ephraim’s Church and thanked him for his loyalty to the Syriac Orthodox Church throughout the years, wishing him good health and happiness.
Following the Holy Qurobo, the newly ordained received congratulations from their families and parishioners. Later, His Eminence joined the clergy and parishioners for a Lenten Dinner prepared by the Board members and the Ladies of the Church.
