His Eminence Celebrates the Holy Liturgy in Chicago, Illinois
Sunday, December the 4th, His Eminence Mor Cyril Aphrem Karim celebrated the Holy Qurobo (Divine Liturgy ) at St. John the Baptist Church in Chicago, Illinois. The church was crowded with parishioners from all over the area. Rev. Fr. Yacoub Youhanoun assisted His Eminence with the deacons and the choir. The sermon was about the birth of St. John the Baptist, the forerunner of the Master and the patron saint of the parish. His Eminence congratulated the parishioners on the birth of their patron-saint and later joined them for lunch in the church hall.
Following lunch His Eminence talked to the Sunday School children who were practicing for a Christmas play. He then sat with youth organization of the St. John’s parish. The meeting was opened by an introduction from David Hanna who outlined some of the activities of the youth as they prepare to host the by-annual meeting of the youth organizations of the Archdiocese. His Eminence then spoke to them concerning their role in the church, highlighting the hope which the church places on them. He then answered many questions raised by the youth touching upon the faith, history and worship of the church. The youth were very grateful for the opportunity to be with His Eminence and for the conversation and interaction with him.
