An Archbishop is Consecrated for the Gulf Countries
On Friday, the 26th of October 2012, His Holiness, Moran Mor Ignatius Zakka I Iwas, Patriarch of Antioch and all the East for the Syrian Orthodox Church, paid a pastoral visit to the Mount of Lebanon Archdiocese. H.H. celebrated the Holy Liturgy at St. Gabriel’s Church in A’ajaltoun, Lebanon. During the Liturgy, H.H. ordained Very Rev. Nathanael Yousif an Archbishop, Patriarchal Vicar to the United Arab Emirates and the Arabian Gulf region. Delegates from the United Arab Emirates and from Germany joined parishioners from Lebanon, Syria and Iraq to attend this holy occasion. Raban Nathanael was given the Episcopal name Mor Bartholomew Nathanel Yousif. At the end of the ceremony, the Archbishop was carried on a chair to read the gospel of the Good Shepherd.
Archbishop Bartholomew delivered a speech of thanksgiving and concluded the celebration of the Holy Qurobo (Divine Liturgy). Following the consecration, His Holiness and the newly-ordained Archbishop were carried on chairs to “Bait Alsuryan” Hall in the Church, where they both received congratulations from the attendees. Later a banquet was held in celebration of the occasion.
