Patriarchal Secretary for India is Consecrated an Archbishop
On Thursday, the 15th of November, 2012, His Holiness, Moran Mor Zakka I Iwas, Patriarch of Antioch and all the East, celebrated the Holy Liturgy at St. Gabriel’s Church in A’ajaltoun, Lebanon. His Holiness was assisted by a large number of Archbishops from the Patriarchate and from India. During the Liturgy, H.H. ordained Very Rev. Raban Matthew Chirian an Archbishop, Patriarchal Secretary for India. Delegates from Kuwait, the United Arab Emirates and from Malankara, India, joined parishioners from Lebanon to attend this holy occasion. Raban Matthew was given the Episcopal name of Mor Timotheos Matthew Chirian. At the end of the ceremony, the Archbishop was carried on a chair to read the gospel of the Good Shepherd. Archbishop Timotheos delivered a speech thanking the Holy Trinity for the grace and blessings endowed on him. He, likewise, thanked His Holiness and all his participating Bishops and concluded the celebration of the Holy Qurobo (Divine Liturgy).
Following the consecration, His Holiness and the newly-ordained Archbishop were carried on chairs to “Bait Alsuryan” hall in the Church, where they both received the congratulations from the attendees. Later a banquet was held on this occasion.
