Liturgy of prayers and supplications for the safety and release of the kidnapped Archbishops
On Wednesday 24, 2013, at 7:30 pm, His Eminence Mor Cyril Aphrem Karim celebrated the Holy Qurobo (Divine Liturgy) at St. Mark’s Cathedral in Teaneck, New Jersey, on the occasion of St. Mark’s Feast Day. This liturgy was also offered for the safe return of the two abducted Archbishops, Mor Gregorios Youhanna Ibrahim and Boulos Yazigi. The Cathedral was filled to capacity with sympathetic parishioners from the NJ and NY area. Candlelight vigils and special prayers of the lent and supplications for the Mother of God services were elevated from clergy and laity for the safe return of the two Archbishops.
In his sermon, H.E, Mor Cyril clarified the circumstances of the kidnapping assuring everyone that a resolution to these circumstances remains our top priority. He at the same time asked the faithful to keep praying, reminding them of the fact that as Christians we are required to bear witness to our faith everyday of our lives. Archbishop Karim urged all to contact their elected Local and National officials and continue bringing awareness to this unfortunate situation.
A special collection took place for the family of the driver Fathallah Kabud, an innocent victim who was killed as a result of this horrific incident.
His Excellency Mor Barnaba Yusef Habash, Bishop of Our Lady of Deliverance Syriac Catholic Eparchy in the USA, joined in this celebration in solidarity with our Church.
